I was going through my referral traffic this morning an spotted an very usual referrer – law-enforcement-check-three.xyz.

My first suspension was this was a bot as everything was non-human on this one:

• 100% bounce rate
• 0 seconds spent on page
• 30 new users with only 1 page per session

But I was intrigued, perhaps due to the seriousness of the name (don’t want to make anyone in the EU upset lol), and thus followed up on the link. Turns out its the EU cookie compliance checker.

And yes its a crawler (bot).

Joh! – a €500,000 fine. Thats hectic. I think its time for me to create my privacy policy page – or at least be in good standing with the EU.
